Pakistan-India match was abandoned due to rain
Rain forced the cancellation of Saturday's Asia Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and India at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
The Men in Green were able to clinch their spot in the Super Four stage when the points were split.
India, who batted first, managed to finish their inning despite the light to moderate rainfall that persisted throughout the day.
The Blues were destroyed for 266 runs as Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya each scored fifty runs to help India, who had sunk to 66-4 inside of 15 overs, get back into the game.
For the fifth wicket, Pandya (87 off 90) and Kishan (82 off 81) contributed 138 runs in 141 balls.
The pacers for Pakistan took all of the wickets. Shaheen Afridi claimed four wickets, followed by Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah with three each.
If India defeats Nepal in their final group match on September 4, the two arch-rivals will play again on September 10 in the Super Four stage.
